Ingredients

Serves : 4
  • 50 gms bitter guard


  • 1-2 tbsp oil


  • 1 tsp fennel seeds


  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds


  • 1 tsp jeera


  • 1 tsp red chilly powder


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 2 tbsp coariander powder


  • 1-2 tsp raw mango powder


  • 1 tsp sugar


  • 1 tsp salt to taste


  • 1-2 cups chopped onion

Directions

  • Wash and then Peel off bitter guard lightly and cut in roundels
  • Apply some salt and turmeric powder on bitter guard and keep aside covered
  • Later squeeze out excess water from bitter guard and discard it
  • Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan and add chopped onion and saute till transparent
  • Add all spices and saute till aroma comes
  • Now add bitter guard roundels and salt to taste
  • Mix well and cook covered till soft
  • Check and turn in between
  • Now add raw mango powder and sugar..mix well and cook covered for next few minutes
  • Garnish with coriander and serve with soft chapatis, steamed rice and dal.. Tastes awesome
